USHA Silai School gave me a sustainable source of income

FAREEDA BEGUM, ANANTPUR, ANDHRA PRADESH

Circumstances forced Fareeda to migrate to Bangalore in search of work after her husband left her for another woman. She had to leave behind her daughter with her mother in her village in Andhra Pradesh. Working in a garment factory as a helper, Fareeda worked hard while away from her home.

Then her father’s sudden demise meant that Fareeda had to move back to her village. She knew she would have to think of how to sustain her now widowed mother and daughter. That’s when she got to know about USHA Silai School Program. With her past experience in a garment factory combined with her training with USHA, she opened her very own Silai School.

Now, she has a steady source of income, lives with her mother and daughter and is looking forward to giving her child a good education.

Fareeda is hopeful and certain that her life will be as vibrant as the colors of thread she uses in her sewing.
